B.B. Blues Band BENNETTS BROTHERS ~ video clip
Originally from England, Ian and Jonathan Bennetts started busking in the late 1950s, and have played in Paris, France and New York City's Greenwich Village. They have direct ties to the British skiffle scene through their brother Les, who played guitar with Lonnie Donegan's band. Ian and Jonathan perform a mix of skiffle, blues, country and folk on the causeway.


Jean Bedard JEAN BEDARD
Guitarist singer/songster Jean Bedard plays an eclectic repertoire of his favourite artists including Keb Mo', Sting, Jack Williams, Lyle Lovett, James Taylor, and instrumentals by Tommy Emmanuel and Chet Atkins. Come out sit, relax and enjoy.



Cooper Sisters COOPER SISTERS
The Cooper Sisters sing and play a variety of instruments including guitars, violin, keyboards, harmonica, drums, bongos, and French horn. Brittany is trained in classical piano and Jill is an accomplished violinist. Jill belongs to the Smugglers Cove string quartet and drums for the Vic High R&B rehearsal band. They'll release "Inspirations," a new CD of original songs, this Fall.


Copper Cowgirl COPPER COWGIRL JANE
Copper Cowgirl Jane shocks and amuses with her statuesque stance. Through the use of corporeal mime she has 'rounded up' and entertained audiences around the world. Just watch out, she may be made of copper, but she'll pump you full of lead!



Ian & Leah IAN DAYKIN & LEA KIRSTEIN
Fiddle sawin', mandolin strokin', cello bowin', shanty singin', foot stompin' folks who play everything from smoking sets of Irish fiddle tunes to sea-shanties from the east coast. Ian & Lea are two classical music students studying at UVIC who like to let loose in the harbour.

Classically trained cellist Monique Fink entered the busking scene in 2005, where she loves performing for people. While Monique's main instrument is the cello, she began picking up the violin in 2008. Her busking repertoire includes classical, folk and recently this year, celtic fiddle. Monique also teaches cello to people of all ages, beginner through advanced levels.

John Gao JOHN GAO
The haunting sounds of the dizi (Chinese flute) and the erhu (Chinese two-stringed violin) float around the inner harbour when traditional Chinese music expert John Gao performs. Visitors to the causeway, may find themselves slowing down, stopping & tuning in to his melodies, which provide a soothing respite from the hustle & bustle of the city.

A fixture on the causeway for the past 30+ years, one-man-band & singer-songwriter Dave Harris performs his repertoire of blues songs using steel body guitar, mandolin, fiddle and harmonicas, all the while keeping rhythm with his suitcase drum and foot-operated bass "blues box."

French horn player Karen Hough, a fourth generation Vancouver Islander, has been busking for over 10 years. When not blowing her horn on the Causeway, she performs with the Vancouver Island Symphony, Ensemble Pacifica, and many other groups.



Caleb Kennedy CALEB KENNEDY
Caleb Kennedy is a high-energy singer/songwriter from here in Victoria, whose songs run the gamut from country, to rock, to folk, to childrens music, to rap (yes, he plays one rap song, therefore the genre is included). Caleb is a self-proclaimed guitar abuser who relishes getting a good sweat going while pounding out the tunes.


John McCallum JOHN McCALLUM
Guitarist & singer/songwriter John McCallum says "Some good songs, a good acoustic guitar and people walking by, listening for a while if they like, suits me just fine."




Hilarie Ann Higgins MESMERIZING MERMAID
That which started as a dream 14 years ago, has come to the surface as performance artist Hilarie Ann Higgins aka the Mesmerizing Mermaid entertains and woos visitors to the inner harbour causeway. Although this is her main "out of sea" location, she's also been sighted at the Luminara Lantern Festival.


Jaime Nolan JAIME NOLAN
Guitarist & singer-songwriter Jaime Nolan has been busking in Victoria since 1994. His music style is a blend of 60's to 90's folk/rock. Jaime and his wife Tracey love the Inner Harbour so much that they named their son "Harbour". In the winter months Jaime is a biology and chemistry teacher.

Employing the disciplines of clowning, children's theatre and creative movement, interactive performer Clark M. Clark aka Plasterman has been capturing the imaginations of visitors of all ages, since the spring of 2000.



Peter Romig PETER ROMIG
Harmonica player Peter "Ironpete" Romig says "Playing harmonica melodies is something I really have a need to do. I don't seem to be able to stop. It gives me pleasure and if people like it too, it will be double our pleasure."

As his name implies, Country Dave performs a repertoire of heavy metal tunes.....NOT! Actually, visitors and locals, may recognize the guitarist & singer-songwriter from his years on the causeway, twangin' out his brand of country and gospel music.

Don Siemens DON SIEMENS
Don Siemens has been playing piano since age 5 and was classically trained. He's been in numerous bands (rock 'n' roll, jazz, symphony). Currently Don is busy composing music, writing lyrics, and recording. Still, his most gratifying experience, is playing live, especially when people listen and enjoy the music.

With their self-designed and hand-built instruments, Jennifer Grindlay (baritone marimba) and Derek Book (tenor marimba) have a very uplifting and energetic performance that soon has their audience, young and old, dancing along.

This is the third summer on the causeway for 18 year old Sarah Tradewell, who enjoys the chance to meet and perform for people from all over the world. Her Saskatchewan roots and her travels to the East & West Coasts and the States create an eclectic mix of music.



Swan Walker SWAN WALKER
Originally from the Caribbean, singer-songwriter Swan Walker has been busking on the causeway since the summer of 1997. In addition to his originals, he plays a variety of songs on steel drums and guitar, and is mostly known for covering Bob Marley. Swan is truly the reggae performer of the causeway.
